During the trip

Photography

I will try to catch snaps of life, faces and landscapes, light and beauty, in short a visual testimony of the highlights of my odyssey that will be beyond the ephemeral and true to life. Two photographic orientations for this project:

• Black and white photos, highlights the "essential" that should bring out the relation between man and water. I also plan to develop them myself after the trip.
• Color slides, more oriented toward lights, landscapes and color mosaics

Writing

My daily notes will first of all be a cure against loneliness and oblivion, undoubtedly the most complete way to share my experience once back home. It is also a daily task, so that the story of this adventure can be as true as possible to conversations, moods and emotions.

Schools

In order to share my discoveries and observations with children, during the trip and once back home. An entertaining way to learn about geography, climates, water and to discover other faces, cultures and ways of life.

A partnership with NGOs

Photos, articles and conferences will help to present and make others aware of the various aspects of life in water regions. A modern though timeless topic that deserves several approaches.

Research and meeting people

This project is based on a personal experience of course, but also and especially on others' experiences. Therefore, I will have to meet people and share their daily bread. There are many different ways to meet those whose lives are particularly conditioned by water:

• Time: a precious asset to get integrated into a specific environment. Therefore the places, where I will stay for weeks or months;
• As encounters go: the people that advised me before and those I will meet during this trip;
• Professional contacts that are also an entrance door regarding the subject of water;
• Consulates : introducing oneself may be helpful;
• NGOs based in the regions;
• Hydrologic, meteorological, journalistic institutes;
• A certain amount of courage, darry and patience, in order to brave the climatic or human difficulties, loneliness or the trouble caused by an unknown language.

  For instance, in the Gobi desert, meeting the nomads means finding them, even in the heart of the desert, possibly with a local met in a surrounding village. Simplicity, humility, will and smile, are many assets needed to succeed in this quest!
